MEALS TO EXPECTANT AND NURSING MOTHERS.
Greater advantage has been taken during 1926 01 this provision
under the Act, 18 necessitous mothers having been provided with
dinners as compared with 12 during the previous year. The total
number c.f dinners supplied was 710. The nutrition of the mother
during pregnancy and in the lying-in period has a very important
bearing on the well being of the infant, and it is at these times that
necessitous mothers are particularly encouraged to avail themselves
of the Council's scheme.
