House Drainage.
The number of drains tested with smoke and chemical was
57, and 41 were found defective. Notices were served to remedy
same.
In three instances the main combined drains were found
in a defective condition, and on reporting the matter to the
Public Health Committee instructions were given to the Surveyor
to deal with them under Section 41 of the Public Health
Act, 1875.
The main drain at the rear of premises was found in 55
cases to be choked; and on report to the Surveyor's Department,
they were immediately cleared by the Council's workmen.
