House to house inspection have been made in the following
streets and roads, etc.:—

The number of houses inspected was 1,132, and in most
instances informal notices were subsequently served to remedy
defects and abate nuisances. Generally, the defects discovered
were dirty and dilapidated walls and ceilings, defective roofs
and spouting, insufficient supply of drinking water, and defective
fittings to closets.
