SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICE
Introduction
The regular medical inspection of children in attendance at local authority
schools continued, any necessary treatment being obtained either at clinics or through
the facilities provided under the National Health Service Act, 1946.
In accordance with the requirements of the Education Act, 1944, 103 children
were reported to the Authority during the year as suffering from a disability requiring
some form of special educational treatment.

The following table shows the school population in the Borough as at 31st December, 1971:-

Periodic Medical Inspections
The routine medical inspection of school entrants and leavers together with an
intermediate examination during the last year at primary school is the continuing policy
of the Authority.

and the state of their physical condition:-
