FACTORIES AND WORKPLACES
The Local Authority is responsible for enforcing the provisions of the Factories
Act, 1961, and associated Regulations, in respect of cleanliness, overcrowding, temperature,
ventilation, drainage of floors, and sanitary conveniences in factories where no
mechanical power is used, and the provisions as to sanitary conveniences only in factories
in which power is used.

The following tabulated report in the form specified by the Department of Employment and Productivity shows the number of factories registered, the number of inspections made and defects found and remedied.
