OUTWORKERS
Section 133 of the Factories Act 1961 requires the occupier of a factory to notify to the Local
Authority the names and addresses of persons employed in their own homes. There are 164 outworkers
so notified engaged in the following trades:—
Wearing apparel 95
Household linen 1
Curtains and furniture hangings 1
Brass and brass articles 8
Artificial flowers 7
Making of boxes etc. 32
Stuffed toys 2
Cosaques, Christmas stockings, etc. 1
Lampshades 17
The Public Health Inspectors made 146 visits to such premises. No unsatisfactory conditions
were noted.
