Food Inspection.
It has been observed that during the year there has been a
large reduction in the amount of foodstuffs surrendered as unfit for
human food. Approximately 15,000 tins of preserved or canned
food and a quantity of raw or preserved food of various kinds, has
been dealt with by the Sanitary Inspectors. This amount included
food and food material damaged by enemy action, and the whole
was disposed of in accordance with the standing arrangement with
the Ministry of Food Salvage Divisipn. The figures given register
an improvement in the difficulties of transport, storage and handling
of foodstuffs.
