For the purpose of comparison, the death rates for the County of London and the
Metropolitan Boroughs are given in a table on page 16.
Of the total of 2,478 St. Pancras deaths which occurred during the year, no less than
1,759 took place in public institutions; this equals a proportion of 71 per cent. of the total
deaths.
As compared with the previous year there was an increase in the number of deaths due to
Measles, Influenza, Pneumonia, Tuberculosis, Cancer, Heart Diseases and digestive diseases,
and a decrease in those attributed to Syphilis.
Deaths of Aged Persons.
The corrected number of deaths of residents at 65 years of age and upwards, which
occurred during the year 1936 was 1,203, which is 0 6 per cent. of the total population. Of
these 591 were between the ages of 65 and 75; 486 were between the ages of 75 and 85, and
126 were 85 years of age and upwards.
