Prior to 1905, the deaths and the death-rate may not be strictly
accurate. Some of the cases were isolated in outside hospitals,
but if any death occurred, it was not included in the returns. It
probably affects the Diphtheria and Enteric Fever death-rate to a
greater extent than it does the Scarlet Fever rate.
