CERTIFICATE FOR EXEMPTION FROM INHABITED
HOUSE DUTY.
Applications were received under the Customs Inland Revenue
Acts in respect of 77 houses.
Certificates of exemption were signed for 53 houses and refused
for 24.
HOUSING.
Under Section 17 of the Housing, Town Planning, &c., Act,
1909, it is the duty of every Local Authority within the meaning
of Part II of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890, to
cause to be made from time to time inspection of their district,
with a view to ascertain whether any dwelling house is in such
a state so dangerous or injurious to health as to be unfit for
human habitation, and for that purpose to comply with such
regulations and to keep such records as may be prescribed by
the Board.
The Local Government Board have issued an Order making
Regulations with respect to the manner in which this section
shall be carried out, and with respect to the records to be kept
of such inspection,'
During the year the Sanitary Staff has made a big effort
to cope with the Housing Regulations of 1910, and 800 houseto-house
inspections were made. These, of course, are in addition
to the inspections which were made as a result of complaints,
in the investigation of infectious disease, &c. A full list of
all the inspections is given on tbe tables prepared for the County
Medical Officer of Health.
