A comparison of the Local Government Board tables given
at the end of this report with those given in last year's report
will reveal a considerable difference in the manner in which
the tables have been drawn up. More explicit directions have
been given as to the deaths belonging to a district.
Formerly all deaths of residents occurring in public institutions,
whether within or without the districts, were to be included
among the deaths of the district, now by "transferrable deaths"
are meant deaths of persons who, having a fixed or usual
residence in England and Wales, die in a district other than
that in which they resided. The Registrar General supplies
the Medical Officer of Health with the particulars of all the
transferrable deaths belonging to the district.
