During the year, I procured:—
61 Samples of New Milk.
38 Samples of Butter.
1 Sample of Margarine.
In three cases, the Analyst reported that the Milk samples
submitted were inferior in quality and probably adulterated. No
action was taken with regard to these, neither was it necessary to
take any proceedings regarding any of the other milk samples
submitted to the analyst.
About the middle of the year, this district and Chiswick was
over-run with itinerant butter vendors. These persons usually
carried one or two pounds of butter, the rest being margarine.
