Preservation of Lower Rented Accommodation
1. In November, in pursuance of the Council's policy of acquiring lower-rented properties which
were in danger of losing their character, the purchase was completed of the 407 flats in Bronwen
Court and Scott Ellis Gardens, comprising the Scott Ellis Estate, by agreement with the Howard
de Walden Estates Ltd. The question of the possible transfer of these properties to approved
Housing Associations is under consideration.
2. The Council are also negotiating for the acquisition of the freehold interest in Wharncliffe Gardens,
a block of 539 flats.
