UNEMPLOYMENT.
The extent of unemployment in the Borough is shown in Table 1, supplied by
the Ministry of Labour.

It is pointed out that the method of compiling these statistics was changed
in 1937, and that as a result the figures quoted for that year are not strictly comparable
with those for 1936. Allowing for this change the total figures in the agegroup
16-64 for 1936 have been estimated to be as follows:
