BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS.
The number of specimens examined bacteriologically and the diseases in relation
to which the examinations were made are shown in the following table. The figures
for 1912 are also shown, and it will be noted that whereas there was a reduction in
the case of typhoid fever and diphtheria there was a most marked increase in that of
phthisis. The reasons for this have already been given. The work of examining
the specimens was carried out by Dr. Eastes at the Laboratory of Pathology and
Public Health, 35, New Cavendish Street.
