BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS.
The accompanying table shows the number of specimens examined bacteriologically,
and the diseases in which the assistance of the bacteriologist was called for in making
a diagnosis. The figures for 1911, as well as those for 1912, are shown, and indicate
that in the latter year increased use was made of the laboratory. The main increase,
it will be noted, was in connection with consumption, and for this, doubtless, the
coming into operation of the compulsory form of notification was largely responsible.
