Having regard to the agitation which is taking place with reference to the
use of premises underground as workrooms, a considerable amount of attention
was given to the matter during the year and numerous visits were paid by the
inspectors.
The following is a list of underground workrooms showing the means of
lighting and ventilation in existence in each. Those marked "improved
ventilation "are places in which registration was refused until such alterations
as would lead to improvement in this respect were made. No premises, it may
be mentioned, where the light is so bad that artificial illuminants must be used
constantly, are registered.
