like the St. Marylebone Health Society may do much good
by keeping the family under sympathetic supervision, and
obtaining early treatment should any symptoms of consumption
appear.
Much good may also be done in the prevention of
infant mortality, no small proportion of which is due to
improper feeding. The general lowering of the birth-rate
renders even more important than formerly the preservation
of the children that are born.

The fine block of buildings on the Howard de Walden
Estate in Grove Road is now complete. The blocks however
do not materially assist the housing problem, out of
the 388 separate tenements only 216 are of sufficiently low
rent to be inhabited by ordinary artisans. The remainder
may be described as residental flats, as the following
schedule of rents show:—
2 rooms and scullery at 8/- weekly 216
