Prosecutions under the Public Health (London) Act.
E. Gurney of Manor Park, Essex, was summoned for
not executing a notice to relay drains at 79 Devonshire
Street, and the Magistrate's order obtained to do the work
in 28 days.
Notifications of Phthisis.
The number of notifications of phthisis or other forms
of tubercle during the five weeks was 123.
Disinfection of rooms vacated by patients suffering from
disease has been carried out in 17 cases.
Appointment of an additional Lady Inspector.
Out of a considerable number of applicants Miss S. W.
Limont has been appointed (temporarily). There is so much
general work to be done in the vacation owing to absence on
leave of members of the inspectorial staff, that the exact
scope of Miss Limont's ordinary duties has had to be deferred
for a few weeks, during which time she will obtain a knowledge
of the district and of the whole routine of practical
sanitary work carried on in a Metropolitan Borough.
