In about two years the leases of a good many oldfashioned
bakehouses fall in and the premises will be pulled
down and re-built; these bakehouses will also disappear.
At the present moment there are 94 bakehouses, 12
being above ground and 82 below the level of the street.
Hence the majority of the bakers in the Borough will be
affected by the provisions of the Statute.
