It is most satisfactory to find that during the past year
there has been a considerable increase in the number of females
using the baths. The total approaches to nearly one for
each working day. In 1900 there were only 28, in 1901, 135,
in 1902, 278 women cleansed, hence the increase is progressive.
The following tabular statements compiled by Miss
Kilgallin who acts as general superintendent over the Shelter
as well as the baths, shows, besides the total numbers, also
the place from whence the applicant for baths was derived.

THE ST. MARYLEBONE SHELTER.
The St. Marylebone Shelter, established for the purpose
of receiving during short periods persons temporarily evicted
from their homes during disinfecting operations, has done
excellent service during 1902.
It was used 47 times, accommodating for various periods
89 adults and 61 children.
It was also found in a iew instances advisable to detain
in the shelter for some little time contact cases.
