Widows', Orphans', &c., Act, 1925.
The Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act,
1925, provides that, in certain circumstances (e.g., desertion or abandonment
of a child) and in respect of an orphan's pension, the Minister of
Health may direct that the money shall be paid to the Local Authority
for the benefit of the child. In London the County Council is the Local
Authority, but the Borough Council has agreed to carry out the powers
and duties of the County Council.
During 1927 no cases were referred to the Borough Council.
