POPULATION.
The population of Hampstead at the middle of 1912 was estimated
by the Registrar-General to be 85,966, and this estimate has been
adopted in this Report, and it forms the basis upon which the various rates
have been calculated.

The following is an approximate estimate of the population of each Ward at the middle of 1912:—

The population of the Borough of Hampstead, as ascertained by
the Census taken on April 3rd, 1911, is now stated by the Secretary of
the Census Office to be 85,495. This figure is slightly lower than that
which was first stated, i.e., 85,510. By the courtesy of the Secretary of
the Census Office I am able to give the population and sex distribution
for each Ward of the Borough at the Census.
