The infant mortality rates of the London Boroughs varies
from 38 in Holborn to 105 in the City of London.
The following Chart shows the Infantile Mortality rate for the years
1903-1927.
MATERNAL MORTALITY.
In 1924 I reported on the subject of Maternal Mortality,
since when the position has changed very little.
A Committee has now been formed by the Ministry of
Health to go into the question and to advise as to the best
course of action to be adopted to deal with this important
problem.
In this connection it has been suggested that every Maternal
death should be inquired into by a qualified medical practitioner
and evidence collected as to the probable cause.
