One hundred and fifty-eight deaths from Pulmonary
Tuberculosis were registered, against one hundred and twentyseven
in the previous year, representing a death-rate of 1.2
per 1,000, compared with 0.9 in 1926.

The following table shows the number of cases of Tuberculosis remaining on the Registers of Notifications on the 31st December, 1927:—

The notification of cases of Tuberculosis by medical practitioners
is, unfortunately, not carried out as required by
the Regulations, that is within 48 hours of the same coming
to their knowledge.
There are undoubtedly many difficulties attending the
notification of this disease, but the efforts of Local Authorities,
and the money spent in combating this disease are to a
large extent rendered nugatory.

I append figures for the years 1920-1927, showing the interval between notification and death of tuberculous persons.
