EXPORT OF MEAT.
One hundred and seventy-six certificates were issued during the year.
DEMONSTRATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS IN MEAT INSPECTION.
Two hundred and sixty-two persons from various training centres received instruction.
At the request of the Admiralty, the course of instruction in elementary Meat Inspection,
which has been given at Smithfield Market for many years past, the officers of H.M. Navy,
has been extended to include visits to cold-air store, in order that methods of stowing could
be studied.
Thirteen naval officers Teceived this training during 1938.
One ton in every 477 tons of meat paying toll in the Central Markets, Smithfield, was
condemned last vear, as compared with one ton in 487 in 1937.
