The number of births was 3*, viz.: 1 male and 2 females. The birth-rate was 4-1
per 1,000, which is 7 -3 per 1,000 below the average for the previous five years. The birthrate
in these Dwellings reached a maximum of 46-9 per 1,000 in 1896, and has since been
falling irregularly, but almost progressively.
The death rate for 1937 was 13-8 per 1,000 per annum.
For the purposes of comparison of birth and death rates, the population in the whole
of these dwellings has been included in the calculation, as probably representing a class
homogeneity.
