This Act has improved the standard of cleanliness in many businesses.
Before premises are registered, a schedule of alterations and improvements is submitted,
where necessary, to the applicant. When the improvements have been carried out, a
standard capable of maintenance results.
The number of premises registered in the City since the inception of the Act is 153.
In all, seven cases of premises were considered unsuitable for satisfactorily conducting the
type of business for which application for registration was made, and 37 premises have
been removed from the register, the occupier having removed or discontinued in business,
thus leaving a total number of 116 premises now on the register.

During the summer season, 68 inspections have been made in connection with the
manufacture or sale of ice cream of the 42 premises now registered in the City, and 33 inspections
have been made of the barrows or stalls of itinerant vendors, who this season
numbered 29.
In all instances where lack of cleanliness or other breach of the requirements of the
Act was observed, the issue of a caution has resulted in appropriate steps being taken to
remedy the defect.
Additional premises registered during the year in accordance with the requirements
of the London County Council General Powers Act, 1932, numbered 24, and seven premises
have been removed from the register, the occupants having gone elsewhere or discontinued
in business.
