Vaccination.—Of the 421 births notified to the Vaccination Officer during 1927, 109 had
been successfully vaccinated by the end of the year, 20 had died before the age for vaccination.
Vaccination was postponed by medical certificate in no cases, 189 had removed into
other districts, or the vaccinations were pending at the end of the year. There were 103
instances of conscientious objection. The Public Vaccinator performed 87 re.vaccinations
during the year, and in addition to the 109 successful vaccinations referred to above, 7
adult persons were vaccinated for the first time.

INFANT WELFARE WORK.
No new work has been undertaken in connection with Infant Welfare Work, as it is
found that the needs of the City are amply filled by the arrangements already in operation.
The small resident population of the City and the consequent few births enables a close
personal touch to be maintained between my staff and the City mothers.
The Infant Welfare Centre administered by the Corporation at St. Bartholomew's
Hospital has had a satisfactory attendance at the weekly Wednesday session, and supplies
of milk and dried milk, at cost price, under cost price, and free, according to circumstances,
