The birth-rate in these Dwellings reached a maximum of 46.9 per 1,000 in 1896, and has
since been falling irregularly, but almost progressively. The present rate of 2.7 is the
lowest recorded since the Dwellings were built. The rate last year was 7.7.
The baths, provided for the use of tenants of these Buildings, which were opened in
May, 1904, continue to be extensively used, the number of persons bathing during 1926
being 10,701, of whom 4,006 were males and 6,695 were females.
The accompanying table is compiled from the monthly records of attendances at the
baths:—
