My Lord Mayor and Gentlemen,
I beg to present herewith the report of the Medical Officer of Health for the
Corporation of the City of London for the year 1922.
AREA.
The City of London (excluding The Temple) comprises an area of 661 acres
(excluding tidal water and foreshore), or 1032 square miles, equal to a square of
L016 miles to a side.
The area of "Registration London" is 74,817 acres (excluding tidal water and
foreshore), or 1169 square miles, equal to a square of 1081 miles to a side.

* This figure refers only to persons "actively engaged in the City during the daytime," and is based upon
a Census taken in May, 1911.
ANNUAL RATEABLE VALUE.
The rateable value of property within the administrative county of London
(including the City) was £48,924,070 on 6th April, 1922; whilst on the same date
the corresponding rateable value of property in the City of London was £6,227,124
or about one-eighth of the whole County.
POPULATION.
The undermentioned figures are extracted from the Preliminary Report of
the Registrar-General on the Census of England and Wales, 1921:—
