Percentage of carcases and quarters destroyed for tuberculosis :—

12 of the calves affected with generalised tuberculosis were tinder six months
old and 1 under nine months old. 9 were affected in the lungs or lungs and liver
only and in a very slight degree.
3 of the heifers and 1 bull affected with generalised tuberculosis were only
two years of age.
Of the cows affected with generalised tuberculosis 10 were over four and under
six years of age and 2 were ten years old.
Of the 6 oxen totally destroyed, their ages were as follows:—2 between one
and two years, 1 between two and three years and 3 between three and four years.
INSPECTION AT ALDGATE.—The above details are obtained and classified
by the help of records which have been put into operation in the present year for
the first time. A record of the inspections of the carcases of all animals which deviate
from the normal is kept on the card, a copy of which is submitted below. Records
so obtained will be of increasing value each year for statistical purposes.
DIRECTIONS TO INSPECTORS.
To show how the Serous Membranes are affected. Mark the extent of the affected
area on the diagram of the side.
To show which Lymphatic Glands are affected. Draw pencil through the names of
the glands affected on each side.
To show which organs are affected. Draw pencil through the names of the organs
affected.
