WORKPLACES
(Kitchens of Restaurants, &c.).
With few exceptions, the whole of the premises registered were visited
during the year, and there is but little to add to previous Reports.
The principal difficulty now met with is the provision of separate and
suitable water-closet accommodation for the sexes. When businesses change
hands, or structural alterations are carried out—or both—this item is often
lost sight of. The male members of the staff are said to be "paid to go out"
to find accommodation at public conveniences, &c. Such arrangements are
not satisfactory, and do not comply with the requirements of the Act.
The occupiers of several restaurants, &c., submitted plans for approval, and
it cannot be too widely known that this is the only proper course to adopt in
the best interests of the parties concerned, who are thereby enabled to comply
at once with the necessary requirements at a minimum of expense.
The meat and other foods are inspected in the course of the ordinary visits
of the Inspector.
