Upon making enquiries of authorities of outside districts it was found that
in six cases the addresses displayed on the barrows were incorrect, one man
had changed his residence, and that in one instance the ice cream was made
under unsatisfactory conditions.
As the police have no power of making arrests in cases where no notice of
place of manufacture is displayed, there will always be a difficulty in
exercising control over these itinerant dealers.
The following prosecutions were instituted during the year for non-compliance
with the law with regard to exhibiting notices on their barrows stating
the names and addresses of the persons from whom the ice cream was
obtained:—
Mortomeo de Genaro, 5, Back Hill, Saffron Hill 5s. and 3s. expenses.
Frangeris Ericono, 51, Ivy Street, Hoxton 2s. ,, 3s. „
Antonio Stechetto, 7, Back Hill, Saffron Hill 2s. „ 3s. „
Guiseppe Pacini, 39, Warner Street, Clerkenwell 10s. „ 10s. 6d. „
