As heretofore, this process was assiduously carried on in the neighbourhood
of Billingsgate Market and the Custom House. In this part of Lower
Thames Street deodorants are necessary at least twice in twenty-four hours in the
summer, it being difficult to keep the place free from nuisance caused by the
leakages from the fish carts, which rapidly decompose, and cause great annoyance
unless promptly dealt with,
LIMEWHITING OF COURTS.

where the same are approached by a covered way, the ceiling treated in a similar
manner.
