SHELTER FOR TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION
DURING DISINFECTION.
The Shelter in Golden Lane, Barbican, provided in accordance with Sec. 60
(4) of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, which enacts that "sanitary
"authorities shall provide free of charge temporary shelter or house
"accommodation with necessary attendants for the members of any family
"in which any dangerous infectious disease has appeared, for the purpose of
"enabling such dwellings to be disinfected by the sanitary authority," has
been visited by 11 families during the year. They numbered 39 persons, of
which 16 were adults and 23 were children, and who were housed during the
disinfection of the houses after—

Diphtheria 2 ,,
Enteric Fever 1 family
11 families
One family came from a home consisting of four rooms, 4 of three rooms,
5 of two rooms, and 1 of one room.
