DEFECTS IN FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS NOTIFIED
BY H.M. INSPECTOR OF FACTORIES.
The following are the particulars of defects found in factories and workshops,
and reported by H.M. Inspectors; also the steps taken by my
Department to effect improvement.

Fifty-four cases were thus notified in the course of the year, as compared with fifty-one cases in 1901, forty-nine in 1900, fifty-five in 1899, sixty-five in 1898, and thirty-four in 1897, distributed as under:—

9, Noble StreetAdditional w.o. provided for women.
16, Carthusian StreetAdditional w.c. provided for women.
18 and 19, Whitefriars Streetw.c. on second floor allotted for use of women.
12 to 16, Maidenhead CourtRefuse removed from workshop ; separate w.o. accommodation provided for men and women.
37, Bartholomew CloseStaircase approaches to workshop cleansed.
5, Church Row, AldgateWalls and ceilings of workshops cleansed and whitewashed.
