Sanitary Inspections During 1902, compared with previous five years.
Year. | Inspections made. | Sanitary Improvements effected. | Notices served. |
---|---|---|---|
Average previous five years | |||
The apparent reduction in the amount of work performed by the Sanitary
Inspectors is due to the fact that the work done under the Factory and
Workshop Act, 1901, is not included in the above Table, and will be found in
detail on page 61.
Full details of this and every other branch of departmental work are laid
before each meeting of the Sanitary Committee.
In the course of the year there were four cases, when, owing to noncompliance
with Notice to remedy sanitary defects, it was found necessary to
refer the particulars to the City Solicitor, and in each instance the work was
subsequently carried out without further legal proceedings.
The following are the places referred to:—
1, Beech Street Dirty staircase.
1 and 2, Beech Street Defective water-closet and soil pipe.
4a, Bury Street Defective drain.
148a, Queen Victoria Street W.C. unventilated.
Summonses were issued in the three following cases :—
