(2) Every itinerant vendor of any such commodity as aforesaid shall if not
himself the manufacturer thereof exhibit in a legible manner on a
conspicuous part of his barrow a notice stating the name and address
of the person from whom he obtains such commodity and if such
vendor is himself the manufacturer of such commodity he shall in the
same manner exhibit his own name and address. Every such
itinerant vendor who shall fail to comply with the above provisions
shall be liable for each offence on conviction as aforesaid to a penalty
not exceeding forty shillings.

In addition to the foregoing, the accompanying Notice in Italian was
distributed amongst itinerant vendors. The Italian Vice-Consulate was
good enough to prepare the translation, which may therefore be accepted as
a correct rendering of the statutory requirements:—

Col Presente si Notifica che a partire dal giorno 1° Novembre prossimo,
le seguenti prescrizioni andranno in vigore nella citta di Londra a tenore
di Legge:
Ogni venditore ambulante di una tal merce summentovata se non
ne sara egli stesso il fabbricante, dovra mostrare in modo leggibile,
in una parte conspicua della sua carretta, un affisso che indichi il
nome e l'indirizzo della persona dalla quale esso ottiene siffata merce,
e se il cennato venditore e egli stesso fabbricante di quella merce, egli
dovra mostrare nello stesso modo il proprio nome ed indirizzo.
Qualsiasi siffatto venditore ambulante che manchera di conforinarsi
alle disposizioni di questa legge sara passibile per ciascuna contravvenzione
se condannato, come sopra si e detto, di una multa non
eccedente Quaranta Scellini.
