POST-MORTEM ROOM.
The Post-mortem Room at the City Mortuary, erected nearly twenty-five
years ago, having become obsolete and unfitted for the purpose, I submitted
plans for its re-organisation. These involved the tiling of the walls, relaying
the floor with Mosaic paving, providing new Post-mortem table, slabs,
weighing apparatus, hot-water supply, sinks, &c.
These were sanctioned, and carried out by the Engineer. There now only
remains the addition of the electric light to bring the Post-mortem fully up
to modern requirements.
Sundry alterations and improvements were at the same time carried out in
the Coroner's Office and Court.
DISINFECTANTS.
No less than 55,288 gallons of disinfectants (including 765 gallons in
stock at the end of 1900) were manufactured at Golden Lane, and distributed
for various purposes throughout the City.
