Building programme
Programme for 1961-62—As a result of the usual annual review of the five-year building
programme, the Council approved a programme for 1961-62 providing for estimated
expenditure amounting to £413,173, including acquisition of sites. Details of the schemes
in the programme are given in table (i).
General

In connection with the divisionalisation of the mental health services, accommodation
had to be found for additional staff in each division. This involved the acquisition and
adaptation of office premises in two instances and one major and three minor schemes of
conversion of existing premises.
Details of works completed during the year, works in hand and works approved but not
yet commenced are set out in tables (ii), (iii) and (iv). During the year freehold or leasehold
interests in some properties were acquired; details are shown in table (v).
