(b) The rates are per 1,000 total births from 1928 when still births were first registered. Prior to this year the rates are per 1,000 live births, and are estimated to be
approx. 0 05 in excess of the rate per 1,000 total births. From 1931 deaths from abortion are excluded.
(c) Deaths from vehicles and horses 1906-10, 1911-39 estimated, and from 1940 actual deaths from motor vehicles and other road traffic accidents.
(d) Comparable figures are not available for this period.
