The following table shows the number of deaths from measles at the several age-periods in each
of the sanitary areas. For the purposes of this table deaths occurring in public institutions belonging
to London have been distributed to the sanitary areas in which the deceased had previously resided.

Medical officers of health derive their information as to the existence of cases of measles mainly
from the teachers of elementary schools. The majority of the annual reports show the number of
cases of this disease concerning which the medical officers of health received intimation, and the
following table has been compiled from the information thus supplied:—
