result from increase of aggregation of children in schools. The former of these is probably the governing
factor.
If the London death rate be compared with the death rates of other large towns in England
having more than 200,000 inhabitants, it will be seen that in the period 1886.95 the London death
rate exceeded that of any of these towns except Manchester, Liverpool, West Ham and Salford, and in
1896 exceeded that of any except Manchester, Nottingham, Hull and Salford.

the undermentioned foreign cities in 1896, and in the period 1886.95 was higher than that of any
except St. Peterburg.
