During the year 1963 the Department carried out 70 burials at a gross cost of
£875.19s. 7d which represents an average of £12.10s. 3d per burial.

SMOKE CONTROL AREAS
Area 4, comprising the whole of Ward 1, and Area 5, comprising part of Ward 3,
became operative on the 1st October, 1963. The two areas cover 1,255 acres, about
one-third of which is the open space of Kenwood and Parliament Hill.
With Areas 1, 2 and 3 covering all the Borough south of Euston Road, approximately
one-half of the Borough is now within a smoke control area.
