I am sure the Council will be pleased to know that a pilot research project has been
planned with a view to ascertaining if there is any correlation between the environmental
condition and the particular illness for which the general practitioner has been consulted.
I would take this opportunity of thanking the Council and in particular the Public
Health Committee for the help, encouragement and courtesy I have at all times received, and
to express my gratitude to my colleagues and the members of the public health staff for their
ever ready co-operation. I have already acknowledged the help I have received from the
doctors in St. Pancras, but I would like to mention in particular Dr. Back, the Chest Physician,
the consulting staff at St. Pancras Hospital who have given so much help in the care of the aged,
and the staffs of the hospitals in the borough with whom it has been a pleasure to work.
I beg to remain,
Your Worship, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
DENNIS H. GEFFEN,
Medical Officer of Health.
