Dysentery.
70 cases were notified during the year, all of which were St. Pancras residents, as compared
with 24 for 1947. Bacteriological examinations were made in 54 cases, and all other cases were
diagnosed clinically.
The greatly increased number of cases was due to two outbreaks, one at a Day Nursery
(12 cases in May) and the other at an institution in the Borough (10 cases in December).
Encephalitis Lethargica.
No cases were notified during the year, and no deaths occurred.
