Barnes House, Camden Road, although not quite ready for occupation at the end of the
year, was completed and occupied in February, 1932, prior to the compilation of this report.
In addition to 22 flats, the building also provides a Tuberculosis Dispensary, a Maternity
and Child Welfare Centre and five lock-up shops.
Coroner's Court. Extensive improvements were carried out to this building during the
year, a new lease was arranged with the London County Council and the terms under which
the premises are let were revised.
Health legislation coming into force during the year included the following:—
The Public Health (Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1930, which came into force on
January 1st, 1931, and
Amended By-laws with respect to houses divided into separate tenements. The
effect of the Amendment is to cause certain Sections which had been held in
abeyance to apply to houses of this type which have now become decontrolled.
The routine duties of the department have been carried out by the staff with zeal and
efficiency, and I have again to express my thanks to the members of the Public Health
Committee for the consideration so invariably accorded to me.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
G. SOWDEN,
Medical Officer of Health.
