An additional reason for the amalgamation of certain of the centres and for a centralisation
of this work is afforded by the great variation in method which exists at present. To
some extent this is probably due to the origin of the centres; these were started by voluntary
workers who, doubtless, had their own views as to the manner in which the work should be
carried out. The Superintendents of each centre also vary somewhat in their procedure, but
to a certain extent work in the lines initiated by the voluntary committees who still manage
each centre. The following tabie gives the number of new cases at each centre, the number
of attendances, and the number of visits paid by the staff during the past five years:—
