The Berkeley Road Centre was established for the purpose of serving directly the
Primrose Hill district of Ward 4, and for staff purposes it was attached to the Camden Town
Centre. We are of opinion that the Centre has not justified its existence for separate consultations,
and agree that the work should be transferred to Camden Road.
We recommend—
That the work of the Berkeley Road Centre be transferred to the Camden Road
Centre, and that the agreement for the use of Ihe schoolroom be determined.
Grafton Road Centre.
7.—There is a vacancy at this Centre for a Medical Officer, caused by the death of Dr.
J. Sherwood New. A temporary arrangement has been made for Dr. P. Ruth Elliott to
continue the Friday clinics that were held by Dr. New. When the question of filling the
vacancy was before the Council on 16th April, 1924, it was adjourned pending consideration
as to the Berkeley Road Clinic.
We recommend—
That in the event of the work of the Berkeley Road Centre being transferred, as
recommended in the preceding paragraph, Dr. Charles II. A. Alderton be appointed
to the vacancy for a Medical Officer at the Grafton Road Centre, on the usual terms
and conditions relating to the appointment.
Ante-natal work.
8.—The report of the Medical Officer of Health with regard to the ante-natal clinics
held in the Borough is as follows: —

" The average attendance at many of the Centres would certainly point to economy being possible here. The following figures give the average attendances at some of the Centres during the past three months:—

Centre.Number of consultations monthly.Average number of cases seen.Time occupied.
Oakley Squarel181½ hours.
Chalton Street262
Queen's Crescent452
Ampthill Square492-2½ „
Camden Road481½-2 „
Caversham Road482

I would suggest that at Chalton Street one ante-natal consultation per month be held
instead of two, and that at Queen's Crescent and Camden Road two ante-natal consultations
per month be held instead of four. This would effect a saving of about
£90, with no loss of efficiency."
We recommend—
That the foregoing proposals of the Medical Officer of Health be approved and
adopted.
Midwifery Grants.
9.—We have considered the following report of the Medical Officer of Health on this
subject:—
